services available. The Department of Public Works
plans and maintains the City’s water, sewer, storm
drainage, street, and traffic infrastructure; vehicle
fleet, public facilities, right-of-way and parks
recreation fields.
The DPW consists of four
major divisions; Administration, Engineering, Utilities,
and Maintenance Services. DPW provides essential
services to Downey population of over 100,000 extending
over an area of 12.6 square miles.
